EXERCISING LEADERSIP MUSCLES
"Reveal" was the code name for a funded, stealth, startup exploring how best to leverage technology and social engagement methods in support of emerging leadership. (IOW, how to help grow good leaders across communities). I led the product design efforts and worked with the founders to shape the endeavor's overall vision. After a healthy research and discovery period, the team landed on a product analogous to STRAVA but for Leadership (activities and community to improve leadership fitness). Before leaving the project in 2022 to pursue other passions I delivered visual representations of our discovery findings:
An articulated concept model
A specified interaction model
A solidified theory of our components of/for leadership development
A defined community model
Mood Boards (Reflections of each of the 4 principles as part of the early branding process)
The images below are a selection of process documents I created during the the product’s/project's Discovery phase.

CAPTURING A BRAND
Mood boards serve as powerful visual tools in the early stages of brand development, capturing the emotional essence and aesthetic direction before formal design begins. By curating collections of images, colors, textures, typography, and other visual elements, mood boards translate abstract concepts and feelings into tangible visual references.
In this case, each of the principals had distinctly different ideas for the visual signatures of the brand. I translated what I was hearing into four individual boards. These boards worked to convey the distinct ideas and preferences being tossed around. While very different, they became the starting point for the collaborative process of honing in on the identifying visual elements of the brand.
Note: While Reveal was the code name, Spira became the working name for the app. That’s the name used when creating the mood boards and marks below.
