PETE BUTTIGIEG’S 2020 PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY CAMPAIGN

On April 14, 2019, Pete Buttigieg launched his historic presidential campaign as both the first openly gay candidate and the youngest in the 2020 primary race. Despite being initially considered a longshot, his campaign secured a victory in the Iowa caucuses and tied with Bernie Sanders in New Hampshire, powered in large part by innovative digital strategy and relational organizing.

I led and executed the campaign's UX design including the campaign website, public “Design Toolkit” for supporter content creation, and our relational organizing tool, all of which were optimaized for mobile experiences and for people across the spectrum of tehcnological literacy. I also conducted reviews of third-party software integrations to ensure alignment with our supporters' needs. Notably, weeks before the Iowa Caucuses, I reviewed the IowaReporterApp and identified critical flaws in its user flow, data tracking capabilities, and connectivity contingencies. When the app later failed during the caucuses, our campaign was prepared with backup tracking/tallying methods that proved timely and accurate.

The projects and screens below are samples from the larger/more comprehensive library of experiences we delivered.
