My design path started in fashion, studying at Parsons in Paris and NY, and then working on 7th Avenue in the late 80s—where I developed a deep appreciation for texture, shape, and the dialogue between materiality and structure. By the early 90s I had been bitten by the technology bug, becoming fully ensconced in digital design just as the World Wide Web was emerging for use by the general public in the early-to-mid 90s. I moved out to San Francisco in ’97, became an Information Architect, and never looked back, though my interest in designing physical objects, products, and spaces never waned. In 2005 I moved down to LA to open the design studio for Yahoo!’s then Media and Entertainment division. I left Yahoo! In 2008 but by then felt rooted in LA and stayed. For nearly thirty years I’ve been designing User Experiences, Products and Brands across sectors.. Mid-Pandemic, I decided I wanted to focus my attentions on physical realm again. That’s when I started in the Architecture & Interior Design program at UCLA. As of this writing i’ve got one semester to go.
I’ve you are looking for a more traditional/detailed chronology of my experience, you can download a copy of my CV here..
My years in design have taught me that design is a practice, not an end result. My eyes are almost always hungry, my design voice is ever-expanding, and I’m happiest when creating something meaningful. For me, design is a thoughtful, collaborative pursuit through which we can move beyond trendy, short-lived solutions to make something authentic, relevant, and enduring. From UX leadership and brand experiences to tangible products and physical spaces, I seek to create purposeful beauty.
Great projects begin with a simple hello.
